A Guatemala Adoption Story
I wanna hold your hand! A popular Beatles tune from the 1960s and a could be theme song for
EAC employees. On every step of our journey, there was someone just a phone call away, to
answer our many, many questions during this emotion-filled process. From the first phone call
to Lisa Aayash, who steered us toward our Guatemalan adventure to the final days at the Embassy,
with Jeremy and Juan Carlos by our sides, guiding us every step of the way.
When we received our referral in November of 2005, we never dreamed that we could have our son
home in such a short time. Our visit trip in January left us feeling like royalty, with Trisha
and Rob treating us with the utmost care and respect. When we received our call in March to
return to bring our son home, we were elated. Lauren held our hands thru that part and we
travelled on April 3rd to get our son, Omri Patrick.
»How blessed we were to have EAC and it's fabulous in country staff to help us thru what could have been very overwhelming experience.
Once in country, we were greeted again by Juan Carlos and Ana, very warm and loving people.
Jeremy and Karen spent our last 5 days in Guatemala with us, helping us thru the Embassy and
VISA appointments. Hector was very organized and helpful with our paperwork on that end. We
were amazed at the number of people that we met at the Embassy and on the plane that had
NO in country assistance from their agencies and had to go it alone. We had someone holding our
hands thru everything!! How blessed we were to have EAC and it's fabulous in country staff to
help us thru what could have been very overwhelming experience.
We are elated with our son and are looking forward to calling EAC in the future when it is time
to bring home a little sister for him!!
Steven, Erin & Omri Patrick
